Mark Gerlach was given his first camera at an early age and started capturing images of the landscapes he encountered as he travelled around Australia.
After completing his open water course in 1994 he soon saw the need to bring back images of what he saw beneath the waves to show family and friends. He has been seriously pursuing the art of underwater photography since 1996.
He has had articles and images published in a number of publications and has had success in local and international marine imaging competitions. His aim is to present to people the beauty that is to be found beneath the surface of our oceans and to educate and create awareness through his work of how fragile this ecosystem is so future generations may enjoy what we sometimes take for granted.
